What Happens When Black Lives Matter, KKK, Westboro Baptist, Alex Jones Meet In Same Public Square?
What happens when Black Lives Matter, the KKK, Westboro Baptist Church, and Alex Jones meet in the same public square?
It sounds like a the start of a joke, but that's what apparently happened yesterday afternoon.
NBC affiliate KLPC TV reports that the three groups minus Alex clashed, at one point throwing urine at each other before police got them separated.
According to Quartz, the Westboro Baptist signs seemed par for the course, condemning America for condoning same-sex marriage and protesting soldiers, but a group of joke protesters next to them held up signs with messages like "God hates bangs" and "Bangs are the devils children," accompanied by a photo of Taylor Swift, as well as "God hates morning people" and "Morning people are beasts." Stranger yet, one sign read "Mermen are beasts" with an illustration of a male mermaid.
Then radio talk show host Alex Jones walked through the crowd with a bullhorn, calling "megabanks" Communists and George Soros a Nazi for being part of a globalist conspiracy. He also condemned violence by Black Lives Matter and the New Black Panthers. Alex managed to get a portion of the crowd to chant, "Hillary for prison!" while other protesters shouted back against him, "Nazi scum, off our streets!"
That's when video footage from multiple angles — as seen on Alex Jone's website — appears to show Alex attacked by several protesters. Alex and his associate can be seen fighting back before police rush in to break up the scuffle.
Overall, though, activist leaders bemoaned the small protest crowds when compared to conventions of previous election years.
According to U.S. News, protest spokesman Noche Diaz said, “Look, I’ll say this: It’s not a good thing people aren’t here in a bigger force when an openly fascistic candidate is being nominated. Why? I don’t know all the reasons, you’ll have to ask them.”
