What Happened When Trump And Cruz Met Behind Closed Doors? Here’s What We Know

During the heated Republican primary, Trump and Cruz faced off against each other and traded vicious blows. Trump had nicknamed Cruz “Lyin’ Ted” and called out his wife and father. In return, Cruz called Trump a “coward.”  The primary proved to be one of the more vicious primaries in recent memory. According to the Daily Caller, the nastiness may be a thing of the past.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump had a closed door meeting Thursday morning in Washington D.C. with Senator and former opponent Ted Cruz along with GOP chairman Reince Preibus. By all accounts the meeting went well.

“Mr. Trump asked Senator Cruz to speak at the Republican convention,” Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said. “Senator Cruz said he would be happy to do so. Mr. Trump also asked Senator Cruz for his counsel on future judicial nominations, and Cruz responded he would continue to do everything he can to help ensure principled constitutionalists on the courts.”

Despite the productive meeting, there was no talk of Cruz endorsing Trump.
