When Whoopi Goldberg purposed the question — should guns be allowed in classrooms? — referring to the University of Texas allowing students to carry, she gave a derisive laugh and was met with numerous, passionate denunciations of the concept from her liberal cohosts on "The View."
But politically conservative cohost Candace Cameron Bure had a different take: "I agree that [college campuses] should be these little islands of safety and education. I have teenage kids who are going to college soon, so I paused and I have to hesitate on the decision, but ultimately, I'm OK with it. The reason being is so many of the gun-free zones are the places that get attacked. And you do wonder if somebody was armed, could less people have been killed in these mass shootings?"
She then added, "Also, we have to remember that... they're actually adults, because they have to be 21 years old to be armed. They are concealed weapons. They have to go through the background checks. They have to go through the gun safety to be able to carry them. This isn't an 18-year-old out of the gate carrying a [gun]."
