When a young Israeli man heard screaming nearby from a stabbing spree that killed an American college student and wounded a dozen more people, he didn't hesitate to spring into action.
According to The Blaze, 26-year-old Yishai Montgomery said, “I had just sat down to play my guitar near the ocean when I heard screams from down the road. Immediately, I stood up and started to run after him...."
With no obvious weapon in his hand to match the attacker's knife, Montgomery used the only thing he was carrying.
"I slammed [my guitar] on his head. He was stunned and didn’t know what to do with himself,” he related. “Then, I realized that I was the only person who knew that he was the terrorist. He started to run down the street. I left everything behind and shouted ‘terrorist,’ and started to run after him with a group of six to seven people.”
Police were able to catch up to the assailant and shot and killed him. Montgomery is being hailed on social media as a "guitar hero."
The guitar itself was a goner, but fellow Israelis and a local music store gladly offered him a new one.
