Country music singer and American Idol judge Luke Bryan just showed why people like him so much. While filming the latest season of American Idol, he took a break to go crash a weekend wedding in Savannah, Georgia, reported People.
Bryan brought along the Idol filming crew, who posted the crashing on their Facebook page. In the video, Bryan explained why they decided to do it.
“We just did a day of auditions and we found out that like, two minutes away, there’s a real, live wedding happening.”
He added, “We heard that they’re big fans of mine so we’re going to go have some fun and crash a real wedding, real quick.”
Bryan, 41, said he doesn’t crash parties very often, but this was a special occasion.
When he walked into the wedding reception a the Charles Morris Center in downtown Savannah’s historic district, Bryan was met with cheers.
He quickly joined the guests in dancing to one of his songs. He then popped some champagne he brought with him before dancing along with the bride, groom, and guests to his hit tunes, “Country Girl (Shake It For Me).”
The bride, McKenna Neidlinger Lipski, spoke to People about Bryan coming to her wedding. She said she and her groom, Austin Lipski, were completely surprised when Bryan and a camera crew walked into their wedding.
“I couldn’t believe it,” exclaimed McKenna, who also shared she’s a huge Bryan fan who has seen him twice in concert.
Later, they found out that Bryan didn’t crash the party completely unannounced. He checked ahead of time to make sure he wouldn’t upset the happy couple.
“The American Idol producers called the venue manager and asked if it would be ok for Luke to crash our wedding reception,” explained McKenna. “The venue manager had to contact my mom to make sure we would be ok with it.”
McKenna’s mom didn’t hesitate to give Bryan permission, answer “absolutely.” She kept the secret, not letting her daughter know that Luke Bryan would be walking through the door.
Bryan also posed with the couple for photos. What a good guy!
The country star and fellow judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie have been filming the series’ reboot for at least the past month. It will premiere on ABC in 2018.
