Warning: Scam Involving ‘Firefighters’ Present in the South

A recent scam involving ‘firefighters’ has taken place in the South. Authorities are warning the community about the scam in hopes to avoid danger in the future.

According to Fox News, men are going door-to-door, pretending to be firefighters and requesting to check smoke detectors to gain access to homes. They are believed to be in mid-20’s and were last seen wearing blue t-shirts and cargo pants.

Identities of the suspects are currently unknown, but police released a possible vehicle of the criminals, a red truck. Please see pictures of the vehicle below.

The warning is being issued in Greenville, South Carolina. However, there is a possibility the suspects could be traveling to surrounding areas in attempt to not be caught.

Families are being asked to report any information to Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME. Once the criminals have been found or the scam is no longer a threat, this article will be updated accordingly.
