On Monday, Brent Kelley, a pastor from Nashville, captured the sacrificial nature of true love. While taking his kids to get ice cream, he witnessed an elderly man feeding his wife ice cream.
He wrote on his Facebook, "I realized that this elderly man beside me was sitting out side his car door, spoon feeding his wife ice cream who also looked in her late eighties. He draped a towel over her and slowly fed his bride in the 98 degree temperature. It was a beautiful display of love."
The photo has captured the hearts of people all over the world. Even in Australia, they're reporting on this couple. This isn't the first time bystanders have captured a picture of the couple. Two other people sent photos into WKRN from earlier in the year.
People are commenting on Kelley's Facebook, expressing their thoughts about why the photo resonates with so many people.
One woman, Janice Bischoff Argenti, wrote "This goes to show you don't settle for just anyone. Know in your heart that when you become unable to do for yourself that your significant other will be there. That's when you know true love."
Why do you think this man's act of sacrificial love resonates with so many people? Is it because so many marriages end in divorce when things get hard? Either way, this man's act of service is a testament to the fact that real love exists.
This elderly couple isn't the only example of the selfless nature of love. This young man also showed his selflessness through how he treated his fiancee's sister, who has Down's syndrome.
