One of the biggest names in the world of sports has just made an announcement. After deciding to retire from one sport, the former champ is now thinking about switching sports!
Usain Bolt has announced he is considering trying out to play for the Jamaican soccer team. The former sprinter says he believes he is athletic enough to be a great contributing member of the team.
“For me, it’s a personal goal. I don’t care what people really think about it. I‘m not going to lie to myself. I‘m not going to be stupid,” the Jamaican told reporters at the U.S. Formula One Grand Prix.
Some people have considered his new venture to be a mere publicity stunt. However, Bolt says he has dreamed of playing for the national soccer team since he was a little boy.
“If I feel I can’t do it, I‘m going to say ‘you know what, forget this’. I‘m not trying to embarrass myself. But if I go out there and feel I can do this then I will give it a try. It’s a dream and another chapter of my life,” said Bolt.
Bolt also spoke out and gave some amazing advice to his fans and to people around the world. He told people to always chase after their big dreams. It was awesome to see such a renowned world figure speak such inspiration.
“If you have a dream that you always wanted to do, why not try and see where it will go,” Bolt said.
