The aunt of a New York model was found dead on the side of the road in Jamaica last year, according to Fox News. Now reports are coming in that the aunt of this New York model received an eerie call from her niece's missing phone.
Peggy Brunner, the aunt, was preparing for dinner on Sunday when she received the call from her 26-year-old niece Desiree Gibbon, who was discovered dead with a slit in her throat in November.
She got goosebumps after seeing who was calling her, but when she answered it, the line was silent. She then received another call just before midnight on Sunday from the same phone, but once again nobody answered.
Bewildered at the calls, Brunner tried calling the phone back but got a message that the phone wasn't in service. The eerie phone call adds further mystery to the mysterious death of this model.
Desiree Gibbon, 26, was from New York City but found dead in the Caribbean country. Gibbons grew up modeling and competing in beauty pageants, and she was looking for work in Jamaica's tourism industry, especially since her grandmother owns a hotel in the area.
The model had arrived at the island on October 20. She was then identified after investigators took a photo of her to reports in the Montego Bay area to ask if anybody knew who she was. It seemed difficult to determine who she was since she was badly beaten and sliced.
Residents reportedly spotted the woman's body in the bushes and quickly alerted police. Her family has been mourning this tragic loss.
“We were very close, so you can imagine, when I got the news, ‘devastated’ doesn’t begin to describe it,” said Gibbon’s mother.
“She wanted to travel to countries and try things and experience cultures,” the mom said.
