President Donald Trump arrived in Texas on Tuesday aside First Lady Melania Trump. The two scheduled a trip to the south shortly after Hurricane Harvey struck the Texas coast late Friday evening.
Early Tuesday, Trump tweeted that he was leaving for Texas. The president has been very active on social media regarding updates with the massive flooding in Houston, including thanking first responders, praying for the southern state, and posting safety information.
Shortly after his arrival, he received a briefing on Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Additionally, Trump publicly expressed his gratitude towards Texas Governor Greg Abbott and others involved in relief efforts.
As Trump sat down with Abbott, he stated, “I can tell you that my folks were telling me how great your representatives have been in working together; it’s a real team...I just want to say that working with the governor and his entire team has been an honor for us.”
He continued, “We’ll congratulate each other when it’s all finished.” Trump also said Abbott has been “terrific” and a real “friend.”
