With Ted Cruz suspending his campaign yesterday evening and John Kasich ending his today, essentially giving Donald Trump the Republican presidential nomination, the political world's focus has now shifted to who Trump will pick as his running mate.
According to The Fresno Bee, Trump spoke about his vice president selection process this morning, saying, "It will probably be a person with political experience. I would like to have somebody that could truly be good with respect to dealing with the Senate, dealing with Congress, getting legislation passed."
Trump added that it would be "somebody that’s been friends with the senators and congressmen and all so we don’t have to go the executive order route as much as Obama did."
As for who he has in mind, he said, "there's one person I think is very good."
Here in the Faith Family America offices, we decided to offer our top four predictions for Trump's pick:
— John Kasich (if he was part of a plan to keep Cruz from getting to the convention)
— Marco Rubio (in an attempt to capture some of Cruz' supporters)
— Jan Brewer (to push the immigration agenda and capture support from the opposite corner of the country)
— Nikki Haley (to try to gain female and Southern votes)
But you probably have better predictions. What do you think?
