UPDATED AT 4:58 P.M. EASTERN — BBC News is claiming that UK's The Independent erroneously identified the London attacker as Abu Izzadeen. Now both the The Independent and Channel 4 News have deleted their stories identifying Izzadeen as the attacker.
According to the official presidential Facebook page, “President Donald J. Trump spoke today with Prime Minister Theresa May of the United Kingdom to offer his condolences on today’s terror attack in London and his praise for the effective response of security forces and first responders. He pledged the full cooperation and support of the United States Government in responding to the attack and bringing those responsible to justice.”
Just released is the identity of the attack, Abu Izzadeen, who has been known in London for years as a supporter, funder, and inciter of terrorism.
Despite being arrested multiple times on terrorism charges, Izzadeen has served minimal jail time and was roaming free until today.
Three people died and 20 were injured after he mowed down a crowd of people, stabbed a police officer to death, and tried to enter the British Parliament building before being shot to death by other officers.
