Trump Had THIS To Say About Attack On Dallas Police Officers

Late last night and early this morning, Dallas police officers were targeted by two or more suspects, resulting in the deaths of five officers and the injuries of seven other officers and two civilians. The sniper ambush occurred during a large rally protesting police officer shootings of black men, and the key suspect said he “wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.”

According to, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump released a statement following the attack, saying, “We must restore law and order. We must restore the confidence of our people to be safe and secure in their homes and on the street. This morning I offer my thoughts and prayers for all of the victims’ families, and we pray for our brave police officers and first responders who risk their lives to protect us every single day.”

He added, “Our nation has become too divided. Too many Americans feel like they’ve lost hope. Crime is harming too many citizens. Racial tensions have gotten worse, not better. This isn’t the American Dream we all want for our children.”

He also referenced this week’s police shootings of black men Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, which were the subject of the Dallas rally, saying, “The senseless, tragic deaths of two motorists in Louisiana and Minnesota reminds us how much more needs to be done.”

According to The Atlantic, former President George W. Bush and Sen. Ted Cruz released statements about the shooting in their home state. Bush said, “Laura and I are heartbroken by the heinous acts of violence in our city last night. Murdering the innocent is always evil, never more so than when the lives taken belong to those who protect our families and communities.”

He added, “We join our fellow citizens in saluting the fine law enforcement officers in Dallas and across the country who put their own lives on the line to keep all lives safe.”

On Twitter, Cruz wrote, “Men & women of law enforcement selflessly run into harm's way to save the lives of others. May God protect them and bring peace upon Dallas.”
