News just broke that Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price just resigned.
"Secretary of Health and Human Services Thomas Price offered his resignation earlier today and the President accepted," the White House said, according to CNBC News.
The resignation came after reports broke on Friday that President Trump was considering firing his Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price. The announcement was expected to take place sometime tonight.
“We’re going to make a decision sometime tonight,” Trump told reporters. "I certainly don't like the optics. I'm not happy, I can tell you that. I'm not happy."
Price was under sharp criticism from the media after using military aircraft, intended only for government travel, for his own personal use.
Earlier this week, Politico reported that the White House approved the use of military aircraft for multi-national trips by Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price. The trips were approved for Africa and Europe this spring, and to Asia in the summer. The total cost of the trips were over $500,000. This brings Price's travels to more than $1 million since May.
But it doesn't end there. His wife, Betty, accompanied him on military flights, along with several other friends and co-workers. And apparently, he has been taking far more flights than he needs to, and certainly more than previous Health and Human Services Secretaries.
For instance, Kathleen Sebelius, who served for five years under President Barack Obama, said she never took a military plane on her many trips overseas, Rather, she always flew commercially.
In an interview with Fox News, Price pledged to pay back a small amount of the charges, totaling around $52,000. This is because he knew that he's in serious trouble. But even with Price trying his best to stop the bleeding, it seems that his actions are too little, too late. You can watch the interview in the video below.
"By paying for my portions of these trips, I think it's a huge demonstration. It's unique. It's never been done before, unprecedented, as I'm told," Price said, according to CNN.
In breaking news, the author of "The Case For Christ" just shared a shocking detail about Hugh Hefner.
