Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, who made the party leadership sweat bullets as he gave their chosen candidate Hillary Clinton a run for her money, has just thrown in the towel and endorsed his rival for president.
In very lengthy prepared remarks posted on his website, Bernie said, "This campaign is about the needs of the American people and addressing the very serious crises that we face. And there is no doubt in my mind that, as we head into November, Hillary Clinton is far and away the best candidate to do that."
According to CBS News reporter Erica R. Brown, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump released a response through senior policy advisor Stephen Miller ahead of time saying, "Today, Bernie Sanders will be endorsing one of the most pro-war, pro-wall street, and pro-off shoring candidates in the history of the Democratic Party."
He then proceeded to point out every major issues Bernie ran against that Hillary is actually in favor of.
He concluded by saying, "Bernie's endorsement becomes Exhibit A in our rigged system — the Democrat Party is disenfranchising its voters to benefit the select and privileged few."
Two hours before, Trump lit into him on Twitter, writing "Bernie Sanders, who has lost most of his leverage, has totally sold out to Crooked Hillary Clinton. I am somewhat surprised that Bernie Sanders was not true to himself and his supporters. They are not happy that he is selling out!"
