Former San Francisco 49er’s quarterback Colin Kaepernick made nationwide headlines last year after he refused to stand for the national anthem during football games. His protesting in support of the Black Lives Matter movement quickly led to outrage by NFL fans for the quarterback not standing in support of his country.

As a result, Kaepernick was dropped by the 49ers and has yet to be picked up by another team. President Trump later weighed in on the controversy, stating that all players who kneel during the “Star Spangled Banner” should be fired. After Trump’s remarks, dozens of other NFL players joined the “Take a Knee” protests, which gradually became an anti-Trump movement.

Since the massive controversy began, NFL owners and players have struggled on reaching common ground. However, the Washington Post recently reported that there may be one potential “solution”—players staying in the locker rooms during the national anthem.

According to the Post, inside sources believe it is a resolution that most players and owners would agree on.

One source stated, “I think that if players are still kneeling at the end of the year, then it could very well happen...I think most owners would support it, particularly if players continue to kneel this season.”

President Trump responded to the potential “solution” on Wednesday, November 22nd. Trump, of course, was not pleased with the suggestion and blasted NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for his lack of developing a more plausible resolution.

He stated, “The NFL is now thinking about a new idea - keeping teams in the Locker Room during the National Anthem next season. That’s almost as bad as kneeling! When will the highly paid Commissioner finally get tough and smart? This issue is killing your league!”

Previously, Goodell acknowledged that he does believe players should stand for the national anthem, but many agree that he has not been productive in putting an end to the protesting.

This news comes shortly after President Trump bashed Marshawn Lynch from the Oakland Raiders, since he continues to kneel during America's theme song.
