Bernie Sanders’ campaign came to a screeching halt on Tuesday when Hillary Clinton all but locked up the Democratic party nomination with a big win in the California primary.
Reaching out far across the aisle, Republican nominee Donald Trump offered an olive branch to the supporters of Sanders. “To all of those Bernie Sanders voters who have been left out in the cold by a rigged system of superdelegates, we welcome you with open arms,” Trump said in speech. “And by the way, the terrible trade deals that Bernie was so vehemently against, and he’s right on that, will be taken care of far better than anyone ever though possible and that’s what I do.”
Trying to convince self proclaimed socialists and far left liberals to suddenly line up behind Trump is most likely an impossible task. But according to the Blaze, it is a task that Trump isn’t shying away from or taking lightly. “I understand the responsibility of carrying the mantle,” Trump said, “and I will never ever let you down. I will make you proud of our party and our movement.
Do you think Trump will succeed in courting Bernie’s supporters?
