Carrie DeKlyen was diagnosed with glioblastoma in April while pregnant with a girl. The malignant tumor, considered aggressive, affects the brain and spinal cord. Doctors told her that the only way she could live was if she chose to “terminate her pregnancy,” according to People magazine.
Carrie’s sister-in-law, Sonya Nelson, told People Friday that, “She didn’t want to do that.”
Nick DeKlyen, Carrie’s husband, added that it was Carrie’s decision. “I said, ‘What do you want to do?’ She said, ‘We’re keeping it.’”
Carrie gave birth via cesarean section to Life Lynn DeKlyen on September 6 at 24 weeks and 5 days. The family reports that though born prematurely, the baby is doing well.
Unfortunately, Carrie lost her battle to cancer, passing away Saturday—three days after delivering her sixth child. The last thing said between Carrie and Nick was, “I’ll see you in heaven.” She was 37.
Please pray for the DeKlyen family during this difficult time, that Life would be in good hands and cared for. Recently a famous childhood actor passed away at the age of 35. What do you think? Join the conversation on our Facebook page.
