When Indian State Police Sergeant Todd Durnil pulled over a speeding truck driver, he noticed that man seemed especially angry and upset. But then he noticed the angel pin on his visor, identical to the one the trooper kept in his own vehicle.
According to Good Morning America, when Durnil asked the driver Rodney Gibson about the pin, Gibson's eyes welled up with tears. He explained that his daughter had given it to him, but he had just gotten the heartbreaking news that her breast cancer was terminal.
That's when the trooper didn't something completely unexpected.
Gibson explained, “He reached for my hand, and this man sent up a prayer for my daughter and for my family that sent chills all over my body. I will never, ever forget this, nor will my family.”
Gibson was let off without a ticket thanked the trooper by calling up his station and expressing his gratitude for the surprising act of gratitude. Durnil promised that his family and church would pray for Gibson and his daughter as well.
"I hope everyone that hears about this is one more person that can pray for him and his family," Durnil said.
