Tragedy: ‘Father of Fox News’ Dead

Roger Ailes, founder and former CEO of Fox News, passed away on Thursday morning at age 77.

The cause of his death was originally unknown, but Bloomberg confirmed how he died Thursday afternoon. Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's Office stated, 'Roger Ailes died of bleeding on the brain caused by fall at home'.

His wife, Elizabeth Ailes, released the following statement:

"I am profoundly sad and heartbroken to report that my husband, Roger Ailes, passed away this morning. Roger was a loving husband to me, to his son Zachary, and a loyal friend to many.”

“He was also a patriot, profoundly grateful to live in a country that gave him so much opportunity to work hard, to rise -- and to give back."

CNN reported he was commonly referred to as the ‘father of Fox News’.

Ailes has been in major headlines recently as former Fox New host Bill O’Reilly sexual harassment allegations arose. In the past, female Fox News members also accused Ailes of inappropriate sexual behavior, which Ailes denied.
