One of the biggest names in the toy industry, Toys “R” Us, has just issued a major recall. They are warning parents about a potentially fatal product malfunction.
Nearly 30,000 units of the Infant Wiggle Ball have now been recalled. The retail giant says the pieces may break off and become a choking hazard for young children.
“The recall involves ‘Bruin Infant Wiggle Ball’ toys, which are also called giggle balls. No deaths have been reported, but there have been six reports received of rubber knobs breaking off, including four reports of pieces of product found in children's mouths,” according to CNBC.
The plastic pieces that make the ball bounce are said to be the pieces that can break off. The balls have been placed on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission list of potentially hazardous items.
“The toys being recalled were sold at Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores across the U.S. and Canada from June 2016 through January 2017. They were manufactured in China, and have the model number "5F6342E" printed on them,” reported CNBC.
If you happen to have purchased one of the balls, you can take it to a local store for a full refund. Toys “R” Us is recommended all consumers to stop using the balls immediately.
