After the Patriots won Super Bowl LI against the Atlanta Falcons, Tom Brady realized his winning jersey was missing from the locker room.
He told the media, "It's unfortunate, because that's a nice piece of memorabilia."
There was also another missing jersey from Super Bowl XLIX. It was reported on Monday that both of Brady's jerseys turned up in Mexico.
A statement said:
“Through the cooperation of the NFL and New England Patriots’ security teams, the FBI and other law enforcement authorities, the Super Bowl LI jersey worn last month by MVP Tom Brady has been recovered. Also retrieved during the ongoing investigation was the jersey Brady wore in the Patriots’ victory in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks in 2015. The items were found in the possession of a credentialed member of the international media.”
Why are Tom Brady’s jerseys such a big deal?
Since the jerseys were found on foreign land and the Super Bowl LI jersey is valued at $500,000, it has been classified as a first-degree felony.
As the investigation continues, Jay Glazer (NFL Insider FOX Sports) has been posting updates.
