Thousands Sign Petition To Remove Councilwoman Trying To Stop Inauguration

Thousands of people in Seattle are signing a petition to oust a city councilwoman who not only encouraged mass protests after President-Elect Donald Trump's victory but also called for protesters to stop the inauguration from ever happening.

According to KIRO 7, Kshama Sawant, who has a history of blaming all the ills of society on capitalism, called for a "nationwide shutdown" and an "Occupy inauguration" movement on Jan. 20 to keep the democratically-elected Trump from becoming our next president.

As of Monday evening, 2,200 people had indicted a desire to join in.

But an online petition claimed Kshama is "using her platform to incite violence and call for protests and riots. Our elected officials should be helping and bringing people together in our communities not promoting hate towards our democracy."

Sawant repeated her words at the very protest she helped foment in downtown Seattle. The listening crowd cheered and chanted "Shut it down! Shut it down!"
