THIS JUST IN: Blue Angel Jet Crashes During Performance

UPDATE AT 4:30 P.M. CENTRAL — Officials have confirmed that one person died after a Blue Angel pilot crashed shortly after takeoff during a practice flight for an upcoming performance, according to The Tennessean. They did not specify if the deceased person was the pilot or a bystander who was hit by the falling plane.

According to WKRN, a Blue Angel jet has just crashed during an aerial performance in Smyrna, Tennessee.


Details are scarce, but multiple witnesses have reported seeing the plane go down.

According to witness @HalieShults on Twitter, the pilot did not make it out OK. She asked for prayers for his family. Officials have not confirmed the status of the pilot or any other possible victims.

Less than an hour ago, a Thunderbirds fighter jet crashed after a flyover of a Air Force Academy graduation in Colorado Springs where President Obama was doing the commencement speech, according to The Denver Post. The pilot ejected safely and was unhurt.
