Not long after Willie and Kori Robertson announced the adoption of a 13-year-old boy, fellow "Duck Dynasty" co-stars Jep and Jessica Robertson announced a new addition to their family as well.
According to Inquisitr.com, health risks have made it impossible for Jessica to have another child. The thought of not getting pregnant again weighed heavily on her heart. That's when she and Jep decided to adopt.
Jessica explains, A year and a half ago, Jep came on board. He was like, ‘You know what, it’s a God thing. If it’s so heavy on your heart, this is something we need to do.'”
Jep continued, “We went to the adoption agency and we said, ‘We don’t care what race, what gender. We just want to have a baby, so whatever happens, happens.’ So we got us a little Gus.”
They opted for a closed adoption for Jules Augustus despite the difficulty of the process.
“We just felt like for us, a closed adoption was the best thing that fit our family, and just the protection of our kids and even (Gus). But (the process is) so worth it. We recommend it. It’s not the easiest journey, but it’s definitely worth it in the end.”
During an appearance on "Good Morning America," Jessica said, “I’m telling you, there’s not an hour that goes by that he’s not kissed or told that he’s loved."
On Twitter, Jep posted a photo of himself with the adorable baby and wrote, "Thanks for the love! This has been a crazy, awesome ride but so worth it!"
Gus' first public appearance was on the family's new show, "Jep & Jessica: Growing the Dynasty." Gus joins his four new siblings — Lily, Merritt, Priscilla, and River.
