When “America’s Got Talent” aired last week, audiences got their first glimpse of Evie Clair. The fourteen-year-old stood in front of the judges and tearfully told her story. Last year, her father was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.

“They gave him a five percent chance to live, and he continued working and supporting our family,” shared Evie, who also said she was auditioning for “America’s Got Talent” because she wanted to sing for him.

Evie sang “Arms” by Christina Perri, a song that she sings to her father when he’s having a tough day.

“I sing him this song to make him feel better and give him comfort and strength to continue fighting,” Evie told the judges.

Even though she had been crying, Evie was able to pull herself together and deliver a beautiful rendition of the ballad. After the episode had aired, Christina Perri posted about Evie’s version of her song, saying “THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL.”
