Many conservative commentators came away from the presidential debate last night feeling that Donald Trump could have been much tougher on Hillary Clinton in the debate. They noted multiple instances where they felt Trump could have really gone after Hillary on issues like Emailgate, Bengazi, and her own treatment of women.
Speaking on "Fox & Friends" this morning, Trump made it clear that he felt moderator Lester Holt himself should have been questioning Hillary on those issues.
“He didn’t ask her about the emails at all," Trump said. "He didn’t ask her about her scandals. He didn’t ask her about [Benghazi]. They were leaving all of her little goodies out.”
As for whether he'll be tougher in the second of three presidential debates, Trump said, “I may hit her harder in certain ways. I really eased up because I didn’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings.”
Trump also said he didn't feel comfortable going hard after Hillary's treatment of the women involved with her husband Bill because Chelsea was in the room.
He said Hillary and Bill's daughter Chelsea "is a lovely young women and friends with Ivanka. I just didn't want to do it in front her. I didn't think it was worth the shot. I didn't think it was nice."
As for whether he felt Hillary was tough on him, Trump said Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio were tougher debate opponents.
