These parents gave their son a chance at life.

The doctors suggested abortion when Linda and Richard Bannon learned that the baby boy in her womb would be born without arms. But for Richard and Linda, abortion was not an option.

“It was never even a consideration of ours,” Linda said in an interview with Bancroft TV. “We want a family. We want to have a baby.”

See, Linda herself had been born without arms.

She was born with Holt-Oram syndrome (a genetic which causes heart problems and skeletal abnormalities of the upper limbs, according to the United States National Library of Medicine), and Linda knew firsthand that her yet-to-be-born son Timmy would be able to live a full, happy life.

Despite undergoing heart surgery and a two-month hospital stay when he was just eight days old, Timmy has refused to let his condition limit him.

“I’m just like the other kids,” Timmy said. “I’m just like ‘em. And I’ll be just like them every time of my life.”
