On Friday, Hurricane Harvey made landfall. The Category 4 hurricane was the worst storm to hit Texas in well over a decade and it continues to cause a vast amount of destruction. Before the tropical storm escalated, many were harping on President Trump, saying that he would most likely fail to respond adequately to the natural disaster. Now, no one can deny that he has handled the situation with tact.

People on the right and the left are affirming not only the president’s actions that he has taken but, more dominantly, his word choices. He has spoken out multiple times about being unified as a country.

On Monday, President Trump held a joint news conference with Finland’s president. He said, “We see neighbor helping neighbor, friends helping friend and stranger helping stranger. We are one American family. We hurt together, we struggle together and believe me, we endure together.”

He said that he extends his thoughts and prayers to the victims of the hurricane and that the federal government is prepared to help both Texas and Louisiana as the storm develops.

He said, “To the people of Texas and Louisiana, we are 100% with you. We will get through this. We will come out stronger. And believe me, we will be bigger, better, stronger than ever before. The rebuilding will begin and in the end, it will be something very special.”

The president also commended the Texas governor and other Texans for handling the situation with grace and perseverance.

After his visit on Tuesday to Texas, the White House confirmed that the president will return on Saturday in order to visit other parts of the state. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that taking care of the people of Texas is President Trump’s “number one priority.”

The president said that while progress has been made, no congratulations will be made until it is all finished. In the midst of the Hurricane Harvey tragedy, the country has been experiencing a unity that was drastically severed after the Charlottesville violence. Much of that unity has been a result of President Trump's response.

Please continue praying for the victims of Hurricane Harvey and for those still in the path of the storm. Many people have stepped up to help hurricane victims. In fact, one Hollywood actress just agreed to donate a staggering $1 million to the cause.
