Texas Teacher Refuses To Assign Homework, Says Kids Should Be Doing THIS Instead

It's the fulfillment of most kids' dreams — a teacher who refuses to assign them homework.

According to Education Action Group, teacher Brandy Young in Fort Worth, Texas started off the new school year by saying there are much better things for her young students to be doing than spending time on schoolwork at home.

She sent an unusual letter home to parents to explain.

“Dear parents, After much research this summer, I am trying something new. Homework will only consist of work that your student did not finish during the school day. There will be no formally assigned homework this year.

Research has been unable to prove that homework improves student performance. Rather, I ask that you spend your evenings doing things that are proven to correlate with student success. Eat dinner as a family, read together, play outside, and get your child to bed early.

“Thanks, Mrs. Brandy Young.”

A Facebook post by parent Samantha Gallagher who showed a picture of the letter along with the caption "Brooke is loving her new teacher already!" had garnered well over 60,000 shares by this afternoon.

Do you think this teacher has the right idea?
