A federal judge in Texas has just stood up to the Obama administration in a big way.
According to the Associated Press, U.S. District Judge Reed O'Connor has just blocked the Department of Education and Department of Justice's directive that all schools open up their bathrooms and locker rooms to students of either sex based on their "gender identity."
O'Connor argued that schools should have been been given a chance to comment on the directive before it has handed down out of the blue. Plus, he believes that the Title IX law is not vague about gender and is being applied incorrectly.
Texas is among 13 states suing the Obama administration over their new rules.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has said, "This president is attempting to rewrite the laws enacted by the elected representatives of the people, and is threatening to take away federal funding from schools to force them to conform. That cannot be allowed to continue, which is why we took action to protect states and school districts."
Texas currently receives $10 billion in funds from the federal government, and the Obama administration has made it clear that those funds could be on the line if their transgender rules are not obeyed.
