You really have to trust the people running your social media accounts. The public assumes that you, the individual, are running it and responsible for every post and action. But in reality, that's not often the case with public figures: they usually have a staff posting their statements and liking various posts.
In this case, a staffer made a mistake that is causing Senator Ted Cruz some embarrassing headlines, reports E Online. After Cruz's official Twitter account liked a pornographic post, people lit up the internet to take the opportunity to shame the conservative Christian senator.
But Cruz just released a statement explaining what happened, graciously absolving his staffer of malicious intent, reports Politico.
"There are a number of people on the team who have access on the account. It appears that someone inadvertently hit the like button. When we discovered the post, which was I guess an hour or two later, we pulled it down," Cruz (R-Texas) said of the incident. "It was a staffing issue. And it was inadvertent, it was a mistake. It was not a deliberate act. We're dealing with internally, but it was a mistake. It was not malicious."
Sadly, liberals are trying to make the error go as far as possible. Politico shares, "Although the 'like' has since been undone, screen shots of the post have circulated widely online and @SexuallPosts updated its bio to urge users to 'follow the same porn @TedCruz watches.'"
