A white Oklahoma high school teacher appears to be trying to create a racial divide among his students by declaring that all the white students in his class, and himself, are racist.
And, according to KFOR News Channel 4, it's not just him but all white people in the world. Ever.
"To be white is to be racist. Period," the teacher is recorded as saying.
A student shot video of the Norman North High School teacher's lecture after she was made to watch a video that blatantly painted white people, by nature, as brutal conquerers. Her teacher then followed up with his own opinions.
He also said, "Am I racist? And I say, yeah. I don't want to be. It's not like I choose to be racist, but do I do things because of the way I was raised?"
The student, who did not want her identity published, said, "Half of my family is Hispanic, so I just felt like, you know, him calling me racist just because I'm white... I mean, where's your proof in that? I felt like he was encouraging people to kind of pick on people for being white. You start telling someone something over and over again that's an opinion and they start taking it as fact. So I wanted him to apologize and make it obvious and apparent to everyone that was his opinion."
The school district said they immediately addressed the teacher's statements after they found out about them. They said they felt the racial "discussion was poorly handled."
