Ever since Target announced that they would let men into the women’s bathrooms and dressing rooms, they have been experiencing a strong backlash from the public that threatens their existence.
Target stores around the country are feeling the effect of the boycott against their open bathroom policy. According the Christian Post, Target is reporting their worst sales numbers in two years. Things have gotten so bad for Target’s financial numbers that they offered a 10% discount on everything in their stores during the “#TargetRunDay” event.
“Desperate!” was how the American Family Association described Target’s reaction to their falling numbers. In a post on their Facebook page, AFA warned the shoppers that “Target is discounting everything to win shoppers back amid #BoycottTarget. Don’t be fooled, their dangerous policy still allows men into the same facilities as little girls. Help keep the boycott going strong.”
Target also recently announced that they were installing a unisex bathroom inside each store to try and quell the uprising. Despite installing new bathrooms, AFA President Tim Wildmon says that the policy is the problem. “Unisex bathrooms are fine,” Wildmon said, “but our request has always been that Target maintain the gender-specific bathrooms as well if the company is interested in guaranteeing the safety and privacy of women and girls who patronize the retailer’s stores.”
Do you think Target is suffering because of their policy?
