His new book ‘Overruled’ gives an insider account of the intricacies of the British legal system and how it intertwines with our politics through 8 key cases. He claims that the cases document a “descent into autocracy” – most notably the 2019 prorogation of Parliament to prevent MPs blocking a “no-deal” Brexit.
Alicia Fitzgerald sat down with Sam to discuss the key findings of his book, and find out more about why he thinks ‘democracy’ as we used to know it, is no longer a reality.
