Everyone has a favorite person—someone who inevitably brightens your day with their mere presence.
Grandma Honey (from Columbus, Ohio) met hers while she was in Haiti back in 2010. She was there to assist the people recovering from the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
Johny Jean Louis was a young man she made friends with while she was there. They became closer friends over the years and would travel to each other whenever possible.
Granny Honey considers Johny, although they are not blood relatives. She actually sees him as a brother.
Johny has created a life for him in the United States. He is now a firefighter in Florida and has his own family.
Despite being a family man and a busy firefighter, Johny still hasn’t forgotten his dear Grandma Honey. He flew to Ohio last Christmas to surprise Grandma Honey at home.
In a video shared on Instagram by Honey’s granddaughter, Carly Mason Boseker, the grandma is seen walking from the kitchen to the dining area after her daughter tells her their cat was there.
“I didn’t see the cat up there,” the grandma said.
“Are you sure? Come here. Look!” her daughter replied.
Granny Honey finally gets to the dining room and, as she looks to her left sees Johny seated casually in a seat.
Johny stands up to hug her after she lets out three long squeals. Granny Honey is still recovering from her excitement and they share a long hug. It was a joyous moment for the couple.
“God brought these two together in perfect timing. Honey lost one of her 7 children, and she had to have a son. He is grandma’s joy & crown and a beloved part of our family,” wrote Carly in the caption of her post.
Their adorable footage of their reunion has received almost 200,000 likes since it was posted on December 26, 2017.
As one commenter said: “Family is family no matter how you come into the fold.”
Carly described the moment in her reply to another commenter who said it was the “sweetest scream.”
“We were just cracking up… We didn’t know how she’d react, we were ready to catch her if she fell but the scream was so incredible and showed how excited she was!” Carly said.
