Tad Cummins and Elizabeth Thomas have managed to stay out of the spotlight since being captured last month in a remote part of northern California.
Tad and Elizabeth were found hiding out in a makeshift cabin in a remote part of the state. The caretaker for the cabins recognized Tad from the wanted ads and alerted authorities. Police were able to apprehend Cummins without a major incident and with Elizabeth staying safe.
Tad has remained in California jails since being arrested, while Elizabeth has returned home to Tennessee. Now, Tad and Elizabeth just got some big news.
On Friday, America will be getting more information about them since 20/20 has agreed to air a special on the case. At this time, prosecutors and defense attorneys are still preparing for the inevitable trial and inevitable sentencing of Tad Cummins.
“We don’t know exactly what statements that he has made, we don’t know what statements the young lady has made to investigators. Those will both be very important. We know he has made statements to other people about things he has done he had been in communication with his estranged wife, all of those things will be major pieces of evidence against him,” McGuire said. “I think it’s going to be a very difficult case to defend. I think it’s going to be the kind of case where you are going to be looking to secure a plea agreement to give him some daylight at the end of the tunnel.”
Through everything, Ted's daughter has remained by her father's Side emotionally and what some find hard to believe. She was quoted on record saying that she thinks he was everything a dad should be and still is.
What do you think about this case? Did you follow along while Tad and Elizabeth evaded authorities for weeks? Will you tune in on Friday and watch the 20/20 special?
