America is still mourning the lives lost during the Las Vegas massacre. On October 1st, 64-year-old gunman Stephen Paddock shot and killed nearly 60 people and injured more than 515 people after opening fire from his hotel room on the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay.
This has been declared the deadliest shooting in history.
Shots were fired down below for roughly 9 to 11 minutes, aiming at attendees of a country music festival. Before authorities arrived at the attacker’s hotel suite, he had already shot and killed himself.
Shortly after the incident, questions were raised about his girlfriend—Marilou Danley. Initially, she was a possible suspect, but after an investigation, authorities stated they didn’t believe she had anything to do with the attack.
However, surprising details have been revealed about Danley and her relationship with Paddock. Danley, originally from the Philippines, arrived back to the United States on Tuesday evening. She landed in LAX and is reportedly in the country to talk to authorities about Paddock.
According to CNN, Danley’s sisters believe she was “sent away,” so she would not interfere with his plans regarding the attack. Paddock purchased a ticket back home for his girlfriend without informing her, but she accepted the plane ticket. Paddock’s brother also thinks he was trying to set up his girlfriend out of the country, especially since $100,000 was transferred to someone in the Philippines shortly before the massacre.
The two have known each other for several years, reported the Washington Post. They met when she was working as a hostess in a local Reno casino and fell madly in love with one another, and spent part of their relationship gambling side-by-side. According to sources close to Danley, she was “shocked” at what happened.
Despite their love, Starbucks employees told the Los Angeles Times that Paddock was often very scolding and critical towards Danley. Staff described him as a tall man with a beer belly who had large bags under his eyes—looking like he never got much sleep.
One barista revealed that the verbal abuse usually revolved around money, “He would glare down at her and say — with a mean attitude — ‘You don’t need my casino card for this. I’m paying for your drink, just like I’m paying for you.’ Then she would softly say, ‘OK’ and step back behind him. He was so rude to her in front of us.”
CNN also confirmed that Danley, a now person of interest, will be questioned by Las Vegas police in hopes of uncovering more information about Paddock’s motive. With the gunman now dead, it is very difficult to determine why he carried out this tragic attack.
In addition to this information, other shocking details were recently revealed about the Las Vegas shooter. Please continue to pray for the victims and all those affected by this horrible tragedy. Thank you!
