This story is sad and important not only for its particular impact, but also because of what it means for Christians everywhere. This week, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a lower court's ruling that a family-run pharmacy must give abortion-inducing drugs to customers. The Stormans family in Washington originally fought to be able to refer out abortion pills like Plan B to other nearby pharmacies, out of their Christian convictions.
Their plea has now officially been denied, reports Life Site News. Justice Samuel Alito (who opposed the ruling) gave Christians a warning about what this case showed for their future: “There is much evidence that the impetus for the adoption of the regulations was hostility to pharmacists whose religious beliefs regarding abortion and contraception are out of step with prevailing opinion in the state.”
The decision was an “ominous sign,” he warned. “If this is a sign of how religious liberty claims will be treated in the years ahead, those who value religious freedom have cause for great concern.” Similarly, conservative blogger Matt Walsh put it this way: "If you think religious persecution isn't happening in this country, you need to start paying attention."
This decision, coupled with the overruling of Texas' move to protect the unborn, shows that being able to kill the unborn is now national law--not to be denied in any circumstance.
