Want another great reason to great reason to eat chocolate, especially as Easter candy starts to hit the discount shelves?
According to The Washington Post, a study that has been going on for a decade and a half reveals that eating chocolate can make you smarter. That's right. Consuming chocolate can boost your memory and abstract thinking.
University of South Australia researcher Georgina Crichton says test subjects who ate chocolate were better at "remembering a phone number, or [their] shopping list, or being able to do two things at once, like talking and driving at the same time."
What makes chocolate a cognitive booster? Researchers say the presence of cocoa flavanols and methylxanthines — try to say that with a mouth full of Cadbury Creme Eggs — might be what enhances your brain's ability to function. But before you clear the grocery store of half-price chocolate bunnies, know that the study contrasted test subjects who rarely at chocolate and those who ate it just a couple times a week.
