Last year Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis was wrongly persecuted for her Christian beliefs. She spent 6 days in jail for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses. Only recently has she been able to move on from the ordeal after a new law was enacted in which all county clerks names are no longer added to the marriage certificate.
Just when that chapter of her life comes to a close, Davis is now facing a new legal action against her. She is being sued by a Kentucky man for her refusal to issue him a marriage license to marry his laptop computer. According to the Christian Post, Mark Sevier has also named the Kentucky governor and attorney general in the lawsuit as well.
Mat Staver, Founder of the Liberty Counsel feels that the lawsuit is ridiculous and frivolous. “There is obviously no right for a man to marry a machine. When you make gender irrelevant to a gender-based relationship you open Pandora’s box and make a mockery out of marriage.”
“Pandora’s box” has already been opened in this country. For thousands of years marriage has been strictly defined as being the union between a man and a woman. Then 5 people on the Supreme Court banded together and declared thousands of years and billions of people to be wrong. What they did was redefine marriage. Once you redefine something you change the nature of it. If it can be redefined, what is to stop the new definition from being continually tweaked and changed to be all-inclusive to whomever wants the title?
It’s sad to think that our country has fallen so far to the point that there will be a courtroom full of people legitimately arguing the merits of a man and his “right” to marry his computer.
