The doctor involved in the April 9 incident, Dr. David Dao, was offered $800 and a hotel room but refused. He then refused to efforts to force him off the flight by United employees. Finally, when he continued to refuse to move, he resisted the efforts of Chicago Aviation police to pull him out of his seat, resulting in him falling and hitting his face against an armrest.
