Before he was Seattle's openly gay mayor, Ed Murray was a foster parent, and according to Jeff Simpson, an incredibly abusive one. Simpson was put into Murray's care when he was 13, and he shares that Murray sexually abused him for 3 years until he left his care at 16.
“Mayor Murray is a child molester,” Simpson (pictured above) said Tuesday in an interview with Fox 12 in Seattle, shared by Life Site News. “The worst things that you can think of were what Ed has done to me.”
Simpson was not the only one who has claimed that Murray sexually abused them. In fact, three other men have accused the mayor of the same thing, all with the consistent themes of taking advantage of them while they were minors, offering money and drugs for sex.
The Seattle Times shares in a fairly damning article this week: "Simpson is one of four men who have publicly accused Murray of sexual abuse decades ago when they were teenagers. Heckard claimed Murray started paying him for sex in 1986, when Heckard was a drug-addicted 15-year-old. Lloyd Anderson and Lavon Jones also separately allege Murray paid them for sex as teenagers."
The problem was that Simpson's child abuse case was dropped because Simpson was such an unstable youth and prosecutors felt they couldn't bring a strong case against Murray. But considering what Simpson had gone through in the foster care system, it is not surprising that he would be very troubled.
Nevertheless, the social worker for the Simpson-Murray accusation had judged that Simpson was indeed a victim of sexual abuse. Child Protective Services caseworker Judy Butler concluded in her 1984 investigation: "In the professional judgment of this caseworker who has interviewed numerous children of all ages and of all levels of emotional disturbance regarding sexual abuse, Jeff Simpson has been sexually abused by Edward Murray."
It was previously thought that this social service record was destroyed, but it has recently surfaced, bringing up the former allegations against Seattle's current mayor. Simpson, wearing a Jesus Rules shirt, said in the Fox 12 interview, “It’s nothing short of a miracle. All of a sudden, not only do we get the paperwork but we get all of the records that were supposedly destroyed.”
Nevertheless, Mayor Murray refuses to step down in the midst of the heat of these resurfaced allegations, though he has changed his plans to run for re-election. “All those records exist,” Murray said. “Also, that a prosecutor and grand jury investigated it and didn’t pursue it, all those facts exist.”
It is troubling to think of innocent children being so wounded by a malicious adult, and also so troubling to think of a predator now leading one of America's biggest cities.
