Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer resigned the morning of July 21st, 2017 after Wall Street financier Anthony Scaramucci was appointed as communications director, which Spicer reportedly disagreed with. His replacement was announced shortly after.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Sanders, daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, was promoted to Spicer’s position. Prior to this promotion, she was a part of the Trump administration by taking over many of the daily press briefings.

Spicer commented on Sanders taking over via Twitter. In his eyes, she will be a fantastic press secretary and serve President Trump “very well.”

Although Trump and Spicer appear to be on good terms following the resignation, earlier reports express there may have been tension between them regarding the disagreement about Scaramucci. Read additional details on their disagreement here.
