What does Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and U.S. Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte have in common? Almost nothing, except they both lied. But only one of them is getting away with it.
That's the point conservative talk radio show host Rush Limbaugh made today when addressing how much Lochte's "exaggerated" account of getting robbed at gunpoint in Rio is getting covered by the mainstream media and subsequently destroying his career.
In fact, just today, after a weekend of continued admissions and evidence that Lochte and his teammates vandalized the gas station they were allegedly robbed at, the top swimmer's sponsors have been dropping faster than the Dow Jones Industrial during the 2008 housing crisis.
Meanwhile, Hillary, despite being excoriated by the FBI for being "extremely careless" with allowing classified information to get into the wrong hands, continues to get away with claiming that she's been absolved of all wrongdoing.
"The reason Ryan Lochte's world is falling apart is because the media won't let go of it," Rush explained. "Everyone knows everything he did. It's on video."
And the reason everyone cares, Rush said, is because "The country does care about integrity. The country does care about quality, manners, and all this stuff."
"But if they don't hear about it," Rush countered, "then they're not gonna get agitated by it, and with Mrs. Clinton they don't hear."
The Rush delivered the real clincher: "It's not that people don't mind if Hillary lies. It's they really don't know, not like they have been told about Ryan Lochte. His entire life has been put under a microscope. Hillary Clinton hasn't had...destructive attention. She's not had the kind of attention that's designed to do real, permanent damage from the Drive-By Media."
Do you think Rush is right on this?
