During this election season, Glenn Beck has been one of the most vocal anti-Trump voices in America. He was Ted Cruz’s most ardent supporter, but ever since Cruz dropped out of the race, Beck has been searching for another candidate that he could support. According to the Blaze, he may have found one.
On his radio show on Thursday, Beck had conservative author Brad Thor on as a guest. “Imagine Brad Thor going up against Trump and Clinton on the same stage,” co-host Stu Burguiere joked.
Thor said that since 15 percent of the vote is needed for a candidate to get on the presidential debate stage, if Beck and his listeners could get him to 15 percent that he would run. “With the radio show, you can get me to 15 percent? If you can get me to 15 percent, I’ll run,” Thor said.
Beck said that he could easily get Thor to 15 percent while saying that he was serious about wanting Thor to make a run for president.
Whether Beck was truly joking or not, he vastly overestimates his reach, influence, and Thor’s name recognition. Mounting a 3rd party run at this point in the race with a low visibility candidate is an exercise in futility.
