Remember the Guy Who Sued His Date for Texting During Movie? Here’s What Just Happened

Brandon Vezmar made national news earlier this week when he sued his date for texting during a movie they were watching together.

After meeting via a dating app called Bumble, the Austin,Texas man decided to take Crystal Cruz to a showing of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”

When Cruz started texting repeatedly during the movie, Vezmar told her to take it outside. She did, leaving the theater all together in her car and leaving Vezmar stranded.

But Vezmar decided not to let the matter rest. He texted her later, demanding she reimburse him $17.31 for the 3D movie ticket he bought her.

When she laughed off his request, he actually sued her in small claims court, calling her behavior a “threat to civilized society.”

After the story went viral, Inside Edition decided to bring the two back together to see if they could resolve their dispute out of court:

During a face-to-face meeting with Cruz, Vezmar decided to accept $17.31 she offered him, but he even counted the money in front of her to make sure she was being honest.

It’s unclear if Vezmar has found a new date since.
