The winner of a reality show on television is now heading to jail. Joshua Allen was convicted of willfully injuring his girlfriend and is now going to be serving a year in jail.
The conviction came after he was previously convicted of assault with a deadly weapon. Fans may remember Allen after he won the reality show, “So You Think You Can Dance” on season four.
Allen is 28 years old. His sentence also includes five years of formal probation and 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling. According to reports, he was also ordered to not have contact with his former girlfriend for the next 10 years.
“Allen assaulted and strangled his girlfriend in April of 2016. Two months later, while facing prosecution for the April incident, he attacked the same victim and she ran to a nearby coffee shop to ask for help, the prosecutor said. Allen then chased her into the coffee shop and threw a glass vase at a woman, who attempted to help the victim, and attacked another man who also tried to intervene,” wrote ET online.
Apparently, the dancer who also played in “Step Up 3D” also vandalized the coffee shop until police arrested him. He had been scheduled to appear on television later this month but has since been replaced.
