On Monday, President Donald Trump took a major step towards fulfilling his campaign promise to make America great again.
The President signed his latest executive order, which has been labeled a "comprehensive plan for reorganizing the executive branch."
The President signed the order form his desk in the Oval Office. He was surrounded by some of his Cabinet members, although not all of his appointees were able to attend. The President is still waiting on some of his nominations to be confirmed by the Senate.
“We have assembled one of the greatest Cabinets in history and I believe that so strongly,” Trump said as he signed the order, according to the White House press pool. “And we want to empower them to make their agencies as lean and effective as possible and they know how to do it. Today there is duplication and redundancy everywhere. Billions and billions of dollars are being wasted,” said President Trump.
The executive order calls for intense scrutiny among government agencies, attempting to determine whether any financial waste exits.
“This order requires a thorough examination of every executive department and agency to see where money is being wasted, how services can be improved and whether programs are truly serving American citizens,” said the President.
The Office of Management and Budget will be in charge of evaluating the different agencies to see how the government can better use taxpayer dollars and save Americans money.
