President Trump Released Official Statement about John McCain's Brain Cancer

An announcement made Wednesday afternoon confirmed that Senator John McCain has been diagnosed with brain cancer. A tumor was discovered when Senator McCain was having a minor procedure performed at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Pheonix. 

Wednesday night President Trump released an official statement from the White House. He called Senator McCain a “fighter” and sent his thoughts and prayers.

The statement read, “Senator John McCain has always been a fighter. Melania and I send our thoughts and prayers to Senator McCain, Cindy, and their entire family. Get well soon.”

President Trump posted the statement to his Twitter account. He wrote with it, “Melania and I send our thoughts and prayers to Senator McCain, Cindy, and their entire family.”

Several other politicians have been sending their prayers and best wishes over social media as well. Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama made comments on their social media accounts about the senator and his health. 

Sarah Palin also sent well wishes to Senator McCain on her Facebook page. She wrote, "John McCain is one tough fighter- we know he’ll face this diagnosis with courage and strength.”
